The landowner was having a hard time keeping locals from using this legacy pit as an illegal dumpsite due to its proximity to the road. The site was holding water year round but had very steep slopes into the pond and needed some help to naturalize further. The landowner and MAAP program anticipated that by creating a naturalized wetland it would deter people from dumping here. After grading, seeding and a little cleanup the site is now a beautiful functioning wetland!
